Memorial Day Flag Placemnet Ceremony

Anniston, AL — The American Legion Post 111 of Oxford, Alabama will hold its annual Memorial Day Flag Placement Ceremony on Monday, May 26, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fort McClellan Military Cemetery, located at 540 Goode Road in Anniston.

This heartfelt event is open to the public and serves as a solemn tribute to the men and women of the Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice. Attendees are invited to participate in placing American flags at the gravestones of veterans laid to rest at this historic site.

The ceremony will include musical performances by the Cheaha Winds Community Band and special selections sung by Ms. Amy Moore. A guest speaker will deliver remarks in honor of the fallen, and a three-round volley salute will be performed by members of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department.

Organizers encourage families, individuals, and community groups to attend and take part in placing flags, helping ensure every veteran is honored.

This annual tradition serves as a powerful reminder of the cost of freedom and provides a meaningful opportunity for the community to come together in remembrance.
