Piedmont City Council Approves Purchases and Resolutions

New Garbage Cans for Piedmont

Piedmont- The Piedmont City Council approved the purchase of 427 garbage cans during the Council meeting Tuesday evening. City Clerk, Carl Hinton, told the Council they got a lower rate per can cost if they bought a truck load. The total cost with shipping is $27,147.

Several resolutions were adopted including on endorsing the Daniel Group which is opening a transfer station on the property owned by Calhoun County adjacent to the City Industrial Park. This will bring some 30 new jobs to the City of Piedmont.  Another Resolution adopted by the Council authorized the Mayor to execute an engagement agreement with Local Government Services, LLC to represent the City’s interest in negotiating a Cable Television franchise renewal with Charter Communications. The other two resolutions were dealing with abatement issues and were adopted by the Council.

Bills and Payroll for the past two weeks were approved in the amount of $706,684.04.

Police Chief, Nathan Johnson gave the Police Report for the Month of July and Chief Todd Kirkland gave the Fire Department Report.

The next meeting of the Piedmont City Council will be on September 2nd at 5:30 PM in the Council Chambers.
