Piedmont, AL – During the Tuesday afternoon Piedmont City Council Meeting Mayor Baker asked the Director of Parks and Recreation, Jeff Formby to speak to the Council About getting a new database system called REC Desk for organizing online registrations for the 650 kids in the program, calendar events which would be linked to their website. Formby encouraged the Council to approve this new system and how it would alleviate time. Formby, raised $4300 that will cover the first year. The next season the cost of the database system would be around $5300. This was tabled until the next Council Meeting.
After, that conversation a resident of Piedmont, Tim Langely spoke at length about the Mill Village area being transient with people moving out and throwing their trash in the alley. Langely, stated this will never change with the trash situation. He is very happy with the City Council and the changes he has witnessed but he stated that some things will never change. Like, the Mill Village area trash problems with landlords and people just living there for a short time. The Council agreed and will continue to work on ways to fix this sore eye in Piedmont. But, for now this is a problem.
Mayor Baker spoke to the Council about three resolutions on the agenda. The properties located at 315. E. Ladiga St. , 504 N. Center Ave. and on US Hwy 278 Cedartown are authorized for demolition and removal. All three resolutions were approved.
Mayor Baker, then told the Council that ARPA granted the City of Piedmont $ 1,075,500.00 for Wastewater Improvements . Also , granted to the City of Piedmont from ARPA was $540,000.00 for Water Systems Improvements. Both projects must be obligated by December 31, 2024.
The Next Piedmont City Council Meeting will be Tuesday October 17th
