On Thursday morning at 8:45 the Piedmont Police Department and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. Team executed a search warrant at a residence inside the Piedmont city limits. Piedmont police had been investigating a possible drug house when they were able to develop enough information to secure a search warrant for the residence. Chief Nathan Johnson stated that once they were able to secure the warrant they requested assistance from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit. Spencer Lerone Dudley, 34, of Piedmont was arrested without incident and did not resist officers during the raid.

Once the residence was secured Piedmont officers and investigators conducted a search of the premises and located a substantial amount of evidence. Seized from the residence were approximately 40 pounds of marijuana (in multiple bags), three handguns, narcotic pills, $2,249 in currency, and other illegal items. Investigators were beginning the seizure of property information regarding a vehicle located on the property when they discovered that manufacturers numbers did not match correctly. Upon further investigation they learned that the vehicle was also stolen, and Dudley was charged for the additional property theft.
