Pursuit and methamphetamine arrest in Piedmont

Earlier today the Piedmont Police Department was dispatched to the area of 2nd Avenue to investigate a theft of services complaint. Upon arrival officers learned that the resident of the property had just left and was seen driving a gray Ford Explorer through the back alley. Officers were able to identify the resident as Jory Alexander Haggard, 26. The investigating officer left the address and began to look in the area for the vehicle and was able to locate it, and identify the driver, traveling on No. Fifth Ave. The officer had prior information that the driver had an active felony warrant and attempted a traffic stop. Haggard refused to stop, and officers initiated a pursuit.

Haggard attempted to escape by driving though the Roy Webb community and ended on Roy Webb Rd when he left the roadway and attempted to ram through a forestry gate. Responding officers were able to quickly capture and detain Haggard and a female passenger, identified as Summer Dawn Phillip, 31. When officers searched the vehicle they located approximately 60 grams of suspected methamphetamine, Suboxone, two used syringes, and small zip lock baggies.

Haggard and Phillip were transported to the Calhoun County Jail are awaiting a bail to be set at some time tomorrow.
