ANNISTON, AL — Southern Wonder Nature School will partner with the Calhoun County Cooperative Extension for a Pollinator Field Day on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Cane Creek Community Gardens in Anniston.
The event will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Cane Creek Community Gardens, located at 77 Justice Avenue, and will be held in conjunction with the Great Southeast Pollinator Census.
The Great Southeast Pollinator Census is a citizen science project created by the University of Georgia that encourages members of the public to participate in collecting data about pollinators. The project is designed to involve community members in research while increasing awareness of pollinator conservation.
During Saturday’s event, participants will learn how to collect and record data for the census before conducting a pollinator count at the community garden.
The event is open to the public, and no specialized scientific experience is required to participate.
The Great Southeast Pollinator Census uses observations submitted by participants to help researchers gather information about pollinator populations across the region.
The Pollinator Field Day is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 22, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Cane Creek Community Gardens in Anniston.
