Piedmont guard goes for 18 as Lady Bulldogs finish third in Haralson County Invitational
TALLAPOOSA, Ga. – Rockmart focused on stopping Piedmont on the inside, so it opened up the game outside and Ava Pope took advantage.
Pope hit three 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 50-36 victory and a third-place finish in the Hilburn-Patterson Haralson County Invitational.
The Lady Bulldogs hit seven 3-pointers as a team. Jaycee Glover hit two and Gracie Naugher and Emily Farmer each hit one.
“She got going because they were denying inside,” Piedmont coach Terrace Ridley said of Pope.
Pope hit two of her 3s and Glover got one of hers in the first quarter to stake the Lady Bulldogs to a 13-7 lead. Pope scored nine of her points in the first half. [**read more]
