Per the city council meeting more details of the procedure were discussed. For full work session and meeting details refer to Jacksonville Journal’s full article.
The announcement of the vacancy was posted on June 11th via the city’s website and Facebook page. The announcement is shown above.
Any interested party can submit their resume and letter of interest through the close of business June 18th.
All submittals will be certified that they meet the requirements and then the list of certified applicants will be forwarded to the city council. Each city council member will then select their top two choices. Those choices will be discussed at the June 24th work session. This is a process to narrow the field and no vote will be held at the work session. If the council cannot come to a consensus then another date for further discussion will be set. If a consensus is met then that person will be voted on at the June 24th city council meeting.
If any resident is interested in holding this vacant city council seat they must submit a resume and letter of interest by June 18th. The council will not be submitting their own nomination so interested residents must formally submit themselves as a potential applicant.
Residents may not nominate a person for the postion. It is recommended that if a resident would like someone specific to apply they should talk to them directly and have them complete the process.
