Rainbow Omega’s Annual Blueberry Picking Day: A Berry Delightful Success

Blueberry Hill

Eastaboga, AL – Rainbow Omega’s Blueberry Hill was abuzz with activity on Saturday, June 15, as families and blueberry enthusiasts gathered for the second annual Blueberry Picking Day. From 7 AM to 2 PM, attendees enjoyed a day filled with the joy of harvesting fresh blueberries straight from the bush.

Building on the overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural berry-picking day, this year’s event once again welcomed the community to handpick their own blueberries. The experience allowed visitors to connect more deeply with the land and the food it produces, fostering a sense of community and appreciation for local agriculture.

Rainbow Omega’s mission to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities was at the heart of the event. The vibrant blueberries showcased at Blueberry Hill are cultivated and nurtured by the individuals at Rainbow Omega, providing them with meaningful employment opportunities and a sense of purpose. Witnessing community members leave with their beautiful blueberries brought a profound sense of pride and fulfillment to these dedicated individuals. The proceeds from plant and blueberry sales directly support Rainbow Omega’s mission, ensuring the continuation of their vital work.

For those with mobility concerns, Rainbow Omega provided golf carts, making the blueberry picking experience accessible to all. Additionally, pre-picked and packaged blueberries were available for purchase, allowing everyone to enjoy the fruits of the harvest without the need to pick their own.

The event also featured a range of activities and attractions. Food trucks offered a variety of delicious dishes, while the garden and gift shop presented unique items perfect for Father’s Day gifts or other special occasions.

The garden and gift shop, which operates Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM and on Saturdays from 8 AM to 2 PM, showcased an array of plants grown on-site, including beautiful hanging baskets filled with geraniums and impatiens, many of which were on sale for just $10 each. These sales contribute to Rainbow Omega’s mission of providing meaningful employment to its individuals.

Rainbow Omega’s commitment to community and support for individuals with disabilities was evident throughout the event. With over 500 blueberry plants, this year’s Blueberry Picking Day was a memorable occasion for all who attended.

For those who missed the event, pre-picked blueberries are still available for purchase this week, ensuring that everyone has a chance to enjoy the season’s bounty. Visit Rainbow Omega’s garden and gift shop to support their mission and take home some delicious blueberries. Don’t miss out on this berry delightful opportunity!
