Montgomery, AL – House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter (R-Rainsville) has appointed Rep. Chad Robertson (R-Heflin) to the Alabama House Judiciary Committee, filling the vacancy left by Cynthia Almond, who resigned in June to serve as president of the Alabama Public Service Commission.
In announcing the appointment, Speaker Ledbetter emphasized the committee’s significance in shaping policies that strengthen the state’s legal system.
“Alabama is a state that takes the rule of law seriously, and the House Judiciary Committee plays an integral role in advancing policies that equip our courts to hold criminals accountable while also safeguarding the rights of law-abiding citizens,” he said. “During his time in the House, Rep. Robertson has proven himself as a member who is capable of developing solutions to complex issues. I believe he will be a great addition to an already strong committee and look forward to working with him in this new capacity.”
Robertson, elected to the Alabama House of Representatives in 2022, previously served as the executive director of the Cleburne County Chamber of Commerce. He currently serves on several committees, including Constitution, Campaigns and Elections; Economic Development and Tourism; Military and Veterans Affairs; and the Joint Legislative Committee on Energy Policy.
Expressing his appreciation for the appointment, Robertson highlighted the committee’s influence on public safety and trust in the justice system.
“I am honored that Speaker Ledbetter has entrusted me to serve in this vitally important role,” he said. “Simply put, every decision made by this committee has the power to protect communities, support law enforcement, and ensure Alabama remains a state where citizens can have full faith in our legal system. I look forward to getting to work and making a meaningful difference for the people of Alabama.”
Robertson’s appointment is effective immediately.
