Rep. Rogers Announces Support of Several Pro-Law Enforcement Bills During Police Week

Washington D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (AL-03) announced his support for several pieces of pro-law enforcement legislation in the 118th Congress today, in recognition of National Police Week. Known for his strong alliance with law enforcement, Rep. Rogers continues to collaborate with Alabama’s local law enforcement officials to address their concerns and support their efforts.

“In honor of National Police Week, I am proud to announce my support for several pieces of pro-police legislation,” said Rep. Rogers. “I am especially thankful for Alabama’s leaders in the law enforcement community who continue to be a tremendous resource for my office and me. Police officers face an extraordinary set of challenges every single day, along with demonization and threats to defund their departments from the far left. This week, we honor their tireless efforts to keep our communities safe.”

The specific legislation supported by Rep. Rogers aims to provide additional resources and protections for law enforcement officers, recognizing their crucial role in maintaining public safety. National Police Week is an annual event that honors law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty and celebrates the commitment of current officers.

Local law enforcement leaders expressed their gratitude for Rep. Rogers’ ongoing support.

“I am appreciative of the dedication and commitment the brave men and women of law enforcement exhibit on a daily basis to protect and serve our communities,” said Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver. “They sacrifice so much to protect the innocent and vulnerable people of our society.”

Oxford Chief of Police Bill Partridge echoed these sentiments, highlighting the significance of Police Week. “Police Week means honoring our fallen colleagues, celebrating our shared commitment to serve and protect, and reflecting on the challenges and triumphs of our profession.”

Rep. Rogers’ support includes backing legislation that seeks to:

– Enhance funding for law enforcement agencies to ensure they have the necessary resources to perform their duties effectively.
– Increase protections for officers on the job, addressing safety concerns and providing better equipment.
– Foster stronger community policing initiatives to build trust and cooperation between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

The announcement underscores Rep. Rogers’ long-standing commitment to law enforcement and his recognition of the vital role they play in ensuring public safety. As National Police Week continues, the spotlight remains on the valor and dedication of law enforcement officers nationwide.
