Alabama Launches Major Fish Stocking Program with Pro Anglers, Lawmakers – June 27 Event at Lincoln Landing

Lincoln, AL — Local, state, and industry leaders will gather at Lincoln Landing at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 27, to mark the official launch of Restock Alabama, a new statewide initiative aimed at enhancing fish populations in Alabama’s public waterways. The program’s debut will be highlighted by the release of 20,000 largemouth bass into Logan Martin Lake.

The event will bring together municipal officials, Alabama legislators, professional anglers, and representatives from the Alabama Department of Natural Resources. Among the attendees will be Bassmaster Elite Series professional Will Davis, Jr. and three-time Bassmaster Classic Champion Jordan Lee. High school and collegiate bass fishing teams are also expected to participate, underscoring the program’s connection to future generations of anglers.

Restock Alabama was developed through years of collaboration between bass fishing professionals, small businesses, conservation leaders, and lawmakers. The initiative aims to sustain Alabama’s reputation as a top-tier fishing destination while supporting local economies.

“Making Restock Alabama a reality has been a passion project for those of us who love Alabama’s waterways and all they have to offer,” said Lee Holmes of Sylacauga Marine & ATV. “Support for the sport of bass fishing runs deep in Alabama, and we can’t wait to see this initiative roll out to benefit visitors and residents statewide.”

The program credits Alabama Senator Keith Kelley and State Representatives Ben Robbins and Craig Lipscomb for championing legislation and policy support that helped bring the project to life. The economic ripple effects of sportfishing are significant across the state, including in nearby Calhoun County, where fishing-related tourism contributes to local business growth, hospitality revenue, and community development.

Restock Alabama will continue working with the Alabama Department of Natural Resources to stock rivers and lakes statewide, promoting ecological balance and long-term sustainability of native fish populations.
