RMC Memorial Foundation Celebrates Grand Reopening of Tyler Park in Anniston

Anniston, AL — The RMC Foundation is proud to announce the grand reopening of Tyler Park, a vibrant and welcoming green space newly renovated to serve patients, staff, and the surrounding community. Located just behind the RMC Health System, the once gravel-filled lot has been thoughtfully transformed into a peaceful haven, complete with rose gardens, a winding walking trail, shaded pavilions, and cheerful swings.

Originally donated to the hospital by the City of Anniston, Tyler Park has found new life through the efforts and vision of the RMC Foundation. Designed to foster both physical and emotional well-being, the park offers a serene escape and a sense of community for those visiting or working at RMC, as well as nearby residents.

“This park is a wonderful place for everyone to prioritize their mental and physical health,” said one RMC staff member. “I walk every day—it started as a challenge with my husband during COVID. Back then, I’d walk laps in the parking deck on my lunch break. Now, I have this beautiful trail right outside. I’ve even made friends who recognize me as ‘the lady walking at the park,’ and every week, I see more and more people out here enjoying it.”

The park’s transformation aligns closely with the mission of the RMC Foundation, which seeks to fund impactful projects that improve the hospital environment and benefit the greatest number of people.

“We’re always looking for ways to enhance our campus, and Tyler Park is exactly that,” said Lagina Fillingim, Director of the RMC Foundation. “This space is for the patients, the families who wait, the staff who give so much of themselves every day. Having spent weeks in the hospital caring for my father, I know how valuable it is to have a place where you can just breathe.”

The Foundation has also announced new opportunities for community members to leave their mark on the park through sponsorships. Individuals, families, and businesses can support the lasting legacy of Tyler Park by sponsoring a pavilion, swing, bench, picnic table, or personalized memorial brick. One local company, M&H Valve, has already stepped up with a generous donation to fund the installation of park benches, helping provide comfortable seating throughout the space.
