Anniston, AL – On Saturday, May 4th, the RMC Foundation hosted its annual Garden Jubilee Fundraiser at the elegant Kress venue on Noble Street. Generously donated by Toby Kilpatrick and Andrew Koehler, owners of Kress, the venue was transformed into a glamorous vintage Hollywood-themed showcase, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening.

Themed “A Night to Walk with the Stars,” the event brought together supporters and stakeholders to celebrate the foundation’s mission of supporting education and healthcare initiatives in the community. Jon Holder served as the evening’s Emcee, adding his charm and charisma to the festivities.

Chairman Mike LaPlant warmly welcomed attendees, setting the tone for an evening of appreciation and recognition. Guests indulged in a delectable dinner catered by Classic on Noble, while Lagina Fillingim expressed gratitude to the night’s sponsors for their generous contributions.

Dr. Lucy Vandervoort Morris took the stage to introduce the scholars supported by the foundation. Among them was Cohen Picton, a senior at Oxford High School and the recipient of the prestigious 2024 Martha Vandervoort Memorial Scholarship. Picton’s exemplary academic achievements, coupled with his passion for healthcare and leadership on the school’s golf team, exemplify the qualities cherished by the foundation.

Lagina Fillingim, Director of the RMC Foundation, highlighted the organization’s commitment to caring for the community. Beyond monetary contributions, Fillingim emphasized the importance of alternative forms of assistance, such as early detection screening programs and scholarships like the Martha Vandervoort Memorial Scholarship.

A significant portion of the event’s fundraising efforts were dedicated to supporting the Tyler Wellness Park, a community initiative aimed at promoting health and wellness. Scheduled to feature fitness stations, a pavilion, and a walking trail, the park reflects the foundation’s dedication to enhancing the well-being of the community.

Supporting the RMC Foundation is made accessible through various means, including cash gifts that are tax-deductible. Donors receive acknowledgment letters for their contributions, ensuring transparency and accountability in fundraising efforts.

The RMC Health System, as a not-for-profit regional healthcare provider, relies on philanthropic support to fulfill its mission of providing world-class healthcare services to residents of northeast Alabama. Charitable donations to the RMC Foundation directly contribute to advancing medical technology and enhancing healthcare services for over 200,000 patients annually.
