Anniston, AL – RMC Health System is embarking on a transformative leadership transition as longtime President and CEO Louis Bass prepares to retire on December 31, 2025, after more than a decade of dedicated service. The Health Care Authority of the City of Anniston Board of Directors has selected Keith Parrott, a seasoned healthcare leader, to succeed Bass as president, effective January 6, 2025.
“Keith brings extensive experience and a proven track record in healthcare leadership, and we are excited to welcome him to the RMC family,” said Bud Owsley, Chair of the Board of Directors. “At the same time, we are fortunate to continue benefiting from Louis’s expertise and leadership throughout this transition. Together, they will guide RMC toward continued success and growth.”
In his new role, Parrott will oversee RMC’s daily operations while Bass transitions to an advisory position as CEO, focusing on strategic initiatives, partnership development, and community relations.
Since assuming the role of President and CEO in 2014, Bass has guided RMC Health System through significant advancements, including improved healthcare delivery, financial stability, and community engagement. His strategic approach to leadership succession reflects his ongoing commitment to RMC’s mission.
“I am proud of many things in my career, but most of all, I’m proud to have worked alongside our RMC team members and medical staff,” said Bass. “I look forward to continuing to serve our RMC family in my new role – and for the opportunity to work with Keith in the new year. I can’t think of anyone who is a better fit for the organization.”
Parrott brings decades of healthcare leadership experience, having held executive roles at organizations such as Ascension, AMITA Health, and Tenet Health. His experience includes over 10 years in Alabama healthcare, making him uniquely suited to lead RMC Health System into its next chapter.
“Alabama healthcare has held a special place in my heart for years. I’m looking forward to joining the great teams across RMC and continuing the diligent work to maintain high-quality care, right here at home,” said Parrott.
With 463 inpatient beds across its Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center and Stringfellow Campus, along with outpatient facilities, urgent care centers, and specialty clinics, RMC serves as the premier healthcare provider for a five-county region in northeast Alabama. Supported by a dedicated team of more than 1,900 employees, 300 volunteers, and over 200 physicians, RMC remains committed to delivering state-of-the-art care with integrity, skill, and compassion.
This leadership transition underscores RMC’s dedication to stability, innovation, and meeting the evolving needs of its community.
