Road Repairs and Liquor License at the Piedmont City Council

Piedmont, AL – The Piedmont city council met for their regular bi-monthly meeting Tuesday evening. Among the usual business tended to, the council reviewed a proposal for a new van for the city to be purchased for $25,208.00, the motion was approved by the council. The council also approved the $5000 bid from Bama Lawn Masters for grass service at the Cemetery and Chief Ladiga Trail.

ABC Liquors submitted an application to sell ‘Retail Beer’ from the ‘Northern Express’ convenience store section of their building on AL Hwy 9 North. A full liquor license is held by the establishment, but this application is to support the retail sales of beer in the convenient store side of the building, which is separated from their liquor sales operation. The application was approved by the council.

The access road in front of burger king is in disrepair and in need of maintenance. A planned improvement and repair of the road includes the purchase of the property from the private owner. The council approved a motion for Mayor Baker and the city clerk to negotiate best deal for purchase of the property for the city.

The next meeting of the Piedmont city council will be Tuesday April 4th, at 6pm.
