Saturday Alive! Returns to Anniston Museums and Gardens This Weekend

Saturday Alive!

Anniston, AL – Families looking for an up‑close encounter with some of the area’s most charismatic creatures can head to the Anniston Museums and Gardens (AM&G) this Saturday, April 26. The popular Saturday Alive! program begins at 1 p.m. in the Anniston Museum of Natural History exhibit halls and is included with regular daily admission; AM&G members attend free.

Held once a month, Saturday Alive! spotlights a rotating lineup of the museum’s live “animal ambassadors.” During the informal, hands‑on session, educators introduce several reptiles, mammals, or birds that reside at the museum, sharing how each species fits into its ecosystem and what guests can do to protect Alabama’s native wildlife. Audience members are encouraged to ask questions and may have an opportunity to observe feedings or gentle touch interactions under staff supervision. The initiative is part of AM&G’s broader mission to “bring science to life” through its collection of more than 30 permanent animal residents.

Saturday’s program caps a full spring weekend at the museum complex, which is also hosting the Longleaf Botanical Gardens Spring Plant Sale earlier that morning. Visitors may explore both indoor exhibits and the surrounding gardens on a single admission ticket.
