MONTGOMERY, AL – Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen is reminding voters of important upcoming deadlines related to absentee voting for the August 26, 2025, municipal elections.
Voters intending to vote absentee by mail must ensure their absentee ballot applications are received by municipal absentee election managers no later than Tuesday, August 19, 2025. For those submitting their applications in person, the deadline is Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Once an absentee ballot is issued, completed ballots must be returned in person by the close of business on Monday, August 25, 2025, or by mail no later than noon on Election Day, Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
Secretary Allen emphasized the role absentee voting plays in the electoral process, stating, “Absentee voting is a vital component of our elections process. Preserving the integrity of absentee voting is of utmost importance to my Office.” He added that recent legislative actions, including the passage of Senate Bill 1 (SB1), are aimed at curbing absentee election fraud.
To avoid any delays in mail delivery, voters are encouraged to submit both their applications and completed ballots at least two weeks in advance of the required deadlines.
Voters must provide a valid photo ID when voting, whether in person or by absentee ballot.
More information and access to municipal absentee ballot applications can be found at the official election website: www.AlabamaVotes.gov.
