CENTRE, AL — State Senator Andrew Jones (R-Centre) has officially launched his campaign for re-election to the Alabama State Senate with events scheduled in Etowah and Cherokee Counties on May 29 and 30. Jones, who represents District 10, is seeking a second term after first being elected in 2018.
Currently serving as Chair of the Senate Veterans Affairs, Military, and Public Safety Committee, Jones also holds the position of Vice-Chair of the Tourism Committee and is a member of the Senate Rules Committee.
A native of Centre, Jones entered politics after a career in agriculture and small business. He stated that his decision to run in 2018 was driven by personal experience with how government policies affect everyday Alabamians. Since taking office, Jones has emphasized economic development, infrastructure, education, and conservative governance as key priorities.
Jones has highlighted legislative efforts that include supporting small businesses and farmers, advancing military and veterans’ initiatives, and promoting adoption and outdoor tourism. He sponsored legislation during the 2023 and 2025 sessions to reduce Alabama’s state grocery tax by 50%, which supporters say resulted in the largest tax cut in state history.
In the realm of veterans’ affairs, Jones has championed bills addressing mental health services, tax relief for deployed service members, and the creation of veteran-specific courts. His work has contributed to Alabama being recognized as one of the top states for veterans to retire.
Jones’ re-election bid has already secured the endorsement of Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger, who praised him for his legislative record and advocacy on behalf of working Alabamians.
Regionally, Jones points to infrastructure improvements as major accomplishments. These include the completed $43 million expansion of U.S. Highway 411, ongoing work on the I-759 Eastern Connector, and proposed plans for a new Southside bridge. He has also backed efforts to secure funding for high-speed internet access, school facility upgrades, and economic development, including a $17 million investment in the Northeast Alabama Regional (NEAR) Megasite.
In recognition of his public service, Jones was selected for the 2024 Henry Toll Fellowship and named to the Council of State Governments’ 20 Under 40 list.
Outside of politics, Jones owns Deep South Coffee Factory and helps operate his family’s cattle farm. He lives in Centre with his wife, Summer, and is an active member of Centre First Baptist Church.
Jones’ campaign events on May 29 and 30 will serve as the formal start of his re-election push across District 10, which includes Etowah, Cherokee, and parts of DeKalb counties.
