Senator Katie Britt Criticizes Senate Democrats’ Vote on Reproductive Freedom for Women Act

U.S. Senator Katie Britt Issues Statement Following Senate Democrats’ Partisan Show Vote, Continued Fearmongering

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) issued a statement this week following the Senate Democrats’ vote on the Reproductive Freedom for Women Act. Senator Britt expressed her firm stance on the issue, characterizing the vote as a politically motivated action by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

“I’m proud to be pro-life, pro-family, and pro-woman. Make no mistake – today was nothing more than yet another self-serving show vote by Senator Schumer. Democrats’ continued far-left push to get rid of the longstanding, bipartisan Hyde Amendment and force American taxpayers to fund abortions at any time, for any reason, up until the moment of birth is radical and wildly out of touch,” Senator Britt stated. She called for the Senate to focus on practical solutions that benefit American families, rather than what she described as partisan tactics.

Senator Britt emphasized the importance of maintaining the Hyde Amendment, which has been a part of annual appropriations legislation since 1977 and prohibits federal funding for abortions. Earlier this year, Senator Britt questioned U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Xavier Becerra about the exclusion of the Hyde Amendment from President Biden’s proposed FY25 HHS Budget. In response, Secretary Becerra acknowledged that President Biden aims to remove the Hyde Amendment from budget proposals.

As a staunch advocate for the pro-life movement, Senator Britt has actively fought to protect the Hyde Amendment. She criticized Senate Democrats for prioritizing what she views as extreme abortion policies over bipartisan efforts to address significant issues like mental health among children and teenagers on social media.

“The American people deserve better,” Senator Britt concluded, calling for legislative efforts that focus on common-sense solutions to help hardworking families.
