Senator Katie Britt Introduces the WALL Act to “Strengthen Border Security”

U.S. Senator Katie Britt Introduces Border Security Package to Finish Wall, Eliminate Taxpayer-Funded Entitlement Benefits for Illegal Aliens

Washington D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and ranking Republican on the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, introduced the WALL Act to enhance efforts to secure the U.S. southern border. The legislation aims to allocate $25 billion to complete the border wall without increasing taxes or adding to the national debt.

“The United States needs a completed border wall—it is just common sense to have a physical barrier in place to ensure only lawful entry into our country,” said Senator Britt. She emphasized that the WALL Act would eliminate taxpayer-funded entitlement benefits for individuals in the country illegally, a measure intended to deter unlawful migration.

The funding for the bill would be sourced by closing loopholes, cutting entitlements, and imposing monetary fines on individuals who enter the country illegally or overstay visas. According to a 2018 estimate by the Joint Committee on Taxation, these provisions could save $33 billion over ten years.

The legislation is cosponsored by Republican Senators Ted Cruz (Texas), Jim Risch (Idaho), John Barrasso (Wyoming), Mike Rounds (South Dakota), and Roger Wicker (Mississippi). Senator Risch remarked, “The WALL Act helps President Trump complete what he started in his first term and does it all without adding a dime to our national debt.”

This marks the reintroduction of the WALL Act, which Senator Britt previously brought forward in the 118th Congress. The bill follows the recent passage of Senator Britt’s bipartisan immigration enforcement legislation, the Laken Riley Act, which she described as a significant step in protecting American families.

“With the introduction of the WALL Act, we’re making it clear that we’ll keep fighting to empower the Trump Administration with the resources needed to make America safe again,” Senator Britt concluded. The WALL Act underscores Senator Britt’s commitment to prioritizing border security and addressing illegal immigration through legislative action.
