U.S. Senator Katie Britt Votes to Support Alabama’s Family Farmers

Washington D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) voted in support of the American Relief Act of 2025. This legislation aims to fund the government until March 14, 2025, and provides crucial relief for Alabama’s family farmers. The bill extends the Farm Bill and allocates a total of $30.78 billion in agriculture disaster funding, which includes $10 billion designated for economic disaster relief.

Senator Britt emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “With the Farm Bill 447 days overdue, it was truly critical to deliver urgent relief for our agricultural community. Our family farmers are experiencing an existential crisis and need our support.”

In her remarks, Britt highlighted that Alabama faced the third highest increase in input costs nationwide in 2023. She noted that Alabama family farmers are projected to lose nearly $200 per acre this year, totaling around $250 million statewide. The American Relief Act is intended to alleviate some of these financial burdens.

Britt also pointed out that the legislation will support border patrol agents and servicemembers, ensuring they receive their paychecks during the holiday season. She expressed her commitment to fighting for Alabama’s family farmers and praised the inclusion of $29 billion for the Disaster Relief Fund, which will aid recovery efforts for victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

Additionally, the bill allocates $10 million for the Delta Regional Authority to assist communities affected by disasters in 2023 and 2024, including areas impacted by a tornado in Dallas County, Alabama.
