Washington D.C. – A coalition of U.S. lawmakers, led by Senators Katie Britt (R-Ala.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), and James Lankford (R-Okla.), has sent a letter to former President Donald Trump, encouraging the reinstatement and expansion of pro-life policies if he returns to office. The letter outlines a comprehensive vision for a “life-affirming” government approach to support pregnant women, parenting mothers, and their children.
In the letter, the lawmakers criticize the current administration, writing, “Over the last four years, President Biden, Vice President Harris, and their administration systematically weaponized the government against the unborn, their mothers, and pro-life Americans.” They expressed hope for Trump to reestablish his previous pro-life policies and adopt new measures to further the cause.
The senators advocate for several actions, including:
- Reasserting policies that restrict taxpayer funding for abortion both domestically and internationally.
- Reinstating anti-discrimination conscience protections for pro-life Americans.
- Issuing pardons for peaceful pro-life protesters.
- Evaluating federal programs to maximize support for pregnant and parenting women, including assistance with housing, childcare, transportation, addiction recovery, and life-affirming healthcare.
The letter reflects a broad vision for what the lawmakers describe as a “whole-of-government” approach to supporting life. They emphasize the need to provide women with resources to make choices that embrace life while alleviating societal pressures to seek abortion.
The initiative has garnered endorsements from several prominent pro-life organizations, including the American Association of Pro-Life OBGYNs, Family Research Council, March for Life Action, and Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America.
In addition to Senators Britt, Hyde-Smith, and Lankford, the letter was signed by 36 other U.S. Senators, including Steve Daines (R-Mont.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), as well as 112 members of the U.S. House of Representatives, including Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.), Barry Moore (R-Ala.), Mike Rogers (R-Ala.), and Dale Strong (R-Ala.).
The letter concludes with a call for Trump to seize the opportunity to provide “real choices and real support” for women and families, asserting that the “life, safety, freedom, and health” of millions of Americans depend on these efforts.
