Calhoun County, AL – Per the Calhoun County Emergency Agency (EMA) the Alabama Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday starts Friday, February 24, 2023. This event gives citizens an opportunity to purchase certain severe weather preparedness supplies free of state sales or use tax (local sales and use tax may apply). The holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2023 and ends at midnight on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
Some of the tax-free items are common supplies costing less than $60 that can be used to prepare for tornadoes or other emergencies. To see a complete list of tax free items click here.
