How many points did Jorda Crook want to score Tuesday afternoon? The short answer is as many as she wanted.
The Ohatchee senior went for 28 points, seven rebounds and six steals in enough minutes to keep her engaged in the Lady Indians 61-21 victory over Weaver. She scored with power moves to the basket, offensive rebounds and finishing off steals she created. Not even the protective lockdown taking place around the school that most in the building had no idea was happening would have been effective against her.
But for all the buckets Crook created in the game the one that drew the biggest reaction was one early in the fourth quarter of a game that was well in hand by the player who replaced Crook on the floor when she finally retired for the day.
Greenlee Orman made the play of the game with 6:32 to go when an offensive rebound landed in her hands in the lane and with her back to the basket simply threw it back over her head in the direction of the goal. It bounced off the backboard and then the rim and then dropped through for two.
“I told the bench over there I’ve been around basketball a long time and I’ve never seen that before,” Ohatchee coach Bryant Ginn said. “That’s the first time I’ve ever seen it.”
It was the kind of shot that told a team it was going to be their day if the game hadn’t been one-sided already. She was still smiling about it coming down the floor a minute later.
“I’ve never made a shot like that before,” the advanced freshman said. “I guess my instinct just kind of kicked in and I just threw it up there. When everybody started laughing that’s when I turned around and saw it.”
Up to that point, Crook was her usual dominant self. The Lady Bearcats scored the first basket of the game then Crook scored 14 of the Lady Indians’ first 18 points in a 23-0 run to the end of the quarter despite Weaver’s attempt to wrap a box-and-one around her.

GLENCOE 60, ALEXANDRIA 41: The game was close for three quarters, but once Glencoe took the lead early in the second quarter the Lady Cubs couldn’t overtake them. They’d gotten close several times, but every time the Lady Jackets would pull away.
Alexandria got it to 22-21 then Jaxson Sizemore hit a running 3-pointer at the buzzer to make it a four-point game at half. The Lady Cubs got it to three, then Glencoe hit five 3-pointers and a three-point play to stretch the lead to 20 with 2:30 to play. The Lady Jackets outscored Alexandria 15-1 over the final six minutes of the game.
Sizemore finished with a game-high 26 points. Jordyn Walker led Alexandria with 16.
