Jacksonville, AL – In an effort to enhance safety and accommodate necessary construction activities, Jacksonville State University (JSU) has announced a temporary closure of the sidewalk along Trustee Street adjacent to JSU Stadium. The closure is set to begin on Thursday, December 14th, 2023, and is anticipated to last until August 2024.
During this period, pedestrians navigating the campus are advised to preplan their travel routes, as the affected sidewalk will be inaccessible. However, to minimize disruptions, an alternate crosswalk will be provided and clearly marked with signage. This alternative route aims to ensure the smooth flow of pedestrian traffic while the primary sidewalk undergoes temporary closure.
To assist the campus community in understanding the scope of the sidewalk closure and the designated alternate crosswalk, a map has been provided for reference.
JSU expresses gratitude for the patience and cooperation of students, faculty, and staff during this temporary adjustment. Officials understand the inconvenience this may cause and have taken measures to mitigate disruptions as much as possible.
For any inquiries or additional information regarding this sidewalk closure, individuals are encouraged to reach out to Parking Services. They can be contacted via email at [email protected] or by phone at 256-782-5566.
The Department of Public Safety at JSU remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of the campus community. Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police, Michael S. Barton, encourages individuals to utilize the Cocky Watch App or contact the department at 256-782-5050 should any safety concerns arise during this period.
