Anniston, AL – In a significant effort to support local communities, Sparklight®, a prominent broadband communications provider, has recently granted $7,500 to Boys & Girls Clubs of East Central Alabama through its Charitable Giving Fund. The donation is part of a broader initiative that saw 29 nonprofits, spanning the company’s 24-state footprint, receive grants totaling over $125,000 in the latest award period.

The Charitable Giving Fund, an integral facet of Cable One’s corporate social responsibility endeavors (including Sparklight®, Fidelity Communications, Hargray, ValuNet Fiber, and CableAmerica), focuses on providing financial assistance to local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. The priority areas for support include Education and Digital Literacy, Food Insecurity, and Community Development.

The grant bestowed upon Boys & Girls Clubs of East Central Alabama will contribute to the enhancement of its after-school Power Hour program, aimed at improving academic success among children and teens.

Laurie Sistrunk, Director of Operations at Boys & Girls Clubs of East Central Alabama, expressed gratitude, stating, “We are truly grateful for the $7,500 grant from Sparklight – and their ongoing support. Sparklight’s generosity helped fund crucial educational resources and enables us to continue providing high-quality service to youth who need us most.”

Nonprofit organizations interested in securing a grant can submit applications during open periods each spring and fall. The application window for spring 2024 grants is set to be open from April 1-30, 2024.

The Charitable Giving Fund aligns with Cable One’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and includes various initiatives supporting education, diversity, environmental conservation, hunger relief, and community beautification. Sparklight’s efforts include support for national organizations like the Emma Bowen Foundation and the National Diversity Council, contributing to the mission of Special Olympics, planting trees through the Arbor Day Foundation, Keep America Beautiful, and actively participating in initiatives to combat hunger.
