The Calhoun County Journal spoke with Mayor Smith and Councilman Wilson after the meeting and they explained that the current City Hall is owned by the Utility Board and not the city. The purpose of the executive session was to authorize the city to purchase the current city hall. Once the city is the owner then demolition can begin and the new construction also be started. For details on the city hall project, including the prospective design options, please view our previous report.
