Jacksonville High School’s Golden Eagle Scholars attended a delicious luncheon on Wednesday. Junior High students in 8th and 9th grades were treated to an early meal and Senior High students in 10th through 12th grades ate a later lunch. There were 102 Junior High students and 106 Senior High students who achieved Golden Eagle Scholar status.
To be recognized as a Golden Eagle Scholar, students must maintain an 85 average in all core classes and also have no disciplinary action. This lunch was to congratulate the students on their great achievements and hard work from the spring semester of 2018.
After being asked how she felt that school administrators planned this lunch, Senior Jahlexia Stripling said, “I feel as if I can be proud of my accomplishments knowing that the school is supporting me by acknowledging my hard work.”
Mrs. April Young and her Event Planning class helped organize and set up the event and serve the group of elite students. Retired Jacksonville High School English teacher Dr. Gene Rhodes spoke to the students about overcoming obstacles in order to become successful. School administrators are planning to hold another luncheon in the spring and welcome more Golden Eagle Scholars.
