Jacksonville, AL – Join the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps as it demonstrates four weeks of rehearsals before it embarks on its 2023 competitive tour of the US. After holding spring training on JSU’s campus throughout the month of June, Spirit will treat the community to a free preview show in JSU Stadium on Saturday, July 1, at 8:00 p.m. in JSU Stadium. Everyone is welcome.
Founded in 1976 by former Marching Southerner Freddy Martin, Spirit has been strongly connected to JSU since its inception. Dr. Ken Bodiford, JSU director of bands, served as Spirit’s director from 2001 to 2007. Currently, JSU alums Chris Moore and David Coheley are directing the band. This year, Southerners Drum Major Blake Durden and several other band members are marching with the corps. Learn more about the band at spiritofatlanta.org.
