Isabel Rogers was low medalist with a 71, and White Plains’ girls won the Twin Bridges Kickoff Classic on Saturday.

The Wildcats shot a 252, 11 strokes better than runner-up Westminster Christian (263). Southside was third at 295.

Oneonta’s Savannah Sandlin was second at 72, and Southside’s Mallory Brooks took third.

White Plains’ Madeline Faulkner shot a 90, followed by Maylee Stewart at 91 and Camryn McElroy at 101.

For White Plains No. 2, Ali Pressley shot a 92, followed by Rachel Gattis at 93 and Aubree Cobb at 94.

Softball

WHITE PLAINS GOES 4-0: Playing in the Piedmont Invitational, White Plains (11-5) had a strong day in the circle, allowing one run while beating Hixson (Miss.) 10-0, Woodland 16-0, Fort Payne 9-1 and Handley 3-0 in the championship game.

The Wildcats, winners of six games in a row, improved to 11-5 while winning the Piedmont Invitational for the second year in a row.

Leighton Arnold pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts in three innings against Hixson and pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts in four innings against Handley. Carli Fritts pitched a perfect game with nine strikeouts in four innings against Woodland and a one-hitter with six strikeouts in four innings against Fort Payne.

At the plate, Arnold, Fritts and Callie Richardson homered against Hixson. Arnold had three RBIs, Richardson two and Fritts one.

Cooper Martin had a single with a run and two RBIs, and Sara Kate Adams had two hits, two runs and an RBI.

Against Woodland, Cassidy Arnold went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and five RBIs. Fritts went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs.

Richardson singled and drove in two runs, and Leighton Arnold had a double and an RBI. Martin and Halie Smith each singled with an RBI, and Adams went 3-for-3 with a double and three runs.

Braeton Moran hit a triple and scored a run.

Richardson homered twice and drove in five runs against Fort Payne.

Fritts added a double and an RBI, and Moran singled with an RBI. Leight Arnold also drove in a run.

Against Handley, Cassidy Arnold and Moran each had a single and RBI, and Adams had an RBI. Leighton Arnold tripled and scored a run.

HANDLEY GOES 3-1: Also playing at Piedmont, Handley beat Fort Payne 8-0, Lincoln 9-1 and Piedmont 7-1 before falling to White Plains 3-0.

The Tigers are 9-3.

Pitchers Mariana Whaley and Ava Hill combined to allow six hits on the day. Whaley struck out a combined nine batters.

They both pitched against Fort Payne. Hill worked against Lincoln and Whaley against Piedmont.

Against Fort Payne, B Lane had two RBIs, and Handley got a double and RBI apiece from Whaley, Ella Hopper and Kia Brown. Kamlyn Holloway hit a double and scored a run.

Against Lincoln, Whaley and Holloway had two RBIs apiece. Whaley went 2-for-2 with a run, and Holloway was 1-for-3 with two runs.

Raquel Joiner had a double and RBI, and Hopper had a single and RBI.

Against Piedmont, Hopper homered with three RBIs, and Whaley doubled with an RBI. Holloway and Brynnley Lane each hit a double. Holloway scored two runs and Lane one.

PIEDMONT WINS TWO: Carson Young’s RBI single scored Cayla Brothers for the go-ahead run in the fifth inning, and Piedmont beat Hixson 6-5 on Saturday.

The Bulldogs later beat Woodland 6-1 and lost to Handley 7-1.

Against Hixson, Young went 3-for-3 with a run and two RBIs, and Cacey Brothers homered and drove in two runs.

Savannah Smith went 2-for-3 with a double and scored a run and pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and no earned runs with eight strikeouts.

Amiyah Thomas hit a double.

Against Woodland, Young pitched a complete game, allowing seven hits and one earned run over five innings, and went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI.

Cayla Brothers went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI. The Bulldogs also got a single and RBI each from Smith, Cacey Brothers and Eliza Mathis.

PLEASANT VALLEY GOES 1-2: The Raiders (5-4) lost to Sardis 9-3 and Corner 13-12 and beat Pell City 8-4 on Saturday at Sardis.

Against Pell City, Madyson Cromer went 3-for-3 with a homer, double, a run and three RBIs. Gracee Ward and Lilly Robinson each had a single and two RBIs, and Haylie Lee singled with an RBI.

Lee pitched a complete game with two strikeouts for the win.

Cromer also homered with three RBIs against Corner, and Ward went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Lily Henry was 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs.

Jordan Cheatwood had two hits, a run and an RBI, and Cailey Almaroad had an RBI. Alexa Cranmer went 2-for-3 and scored three runs.

Cromer had a single and Pleasant Valley’s lone RBI against Sardis.

Baseball

ALEXANDRIA 7, HOMEWOOD 1: Alexandria’s Tripp Patterson continues to pitch gems,

One of the heroes of the Calhoun County tournament, he pitched a complete-game two-hitter with 11 strikeouts on Saturday.

At the plate, Zach Baskins went 1-for-2 with a run and two RBIs.

The Valley Cubs also got a single and RBI apiece from Ian Cartwright and Evan Snow, and Samuel Henegar had two RBIs.

JACKSONVILLE WINS TWO: Gavin Peeler’s bunt single plus an error plated the game-ending run in the bottom of the seventh inning and pushed Jacksonville over the top in a 7-6 victory over Lincoln on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles also beat Spring Garden 19-3 to improve to 7-7 on the season.

Against Lincoln, Kingston Peeler went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and Xaye Lemon had a double and RBI.

Coleman Guthrie got the win, allowing two hits, two earned runs and two walks with four strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.

Against Spring Garden, Gavin Peeler went 3-for-3 with two doubles and five RBIs, and Jackson Bonner went 3-for-5 with a double, three runs and three RBIs.

Matthew Salmon went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBIs, and Lemon had a single, a run and two RBIs. Kingston Peeler had a single, a run and an RBI.

OXFORD SPLITS: The Yellow Jackets (10-6) split with Hartselle on Saturday, losing the opener 5-0 and winning the second game 9-4.

Tide Gann had two of Oxford’s four hits in the first game, including a double, and R.J. Brooks hit a double.

In the second game, Hudson Gilman went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Forrest Heacock had a double, two runs and two RBIs.

Brooks went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Canaan Whitman went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Nick Richardson doubled with a run and an RBI.

PIEDMONT WINS TWO: Piedmont beat Fort Payne 4-1 and White Plains 4-3 on Saturday.

Against White Plains, McClane Mohon went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Trevor Pike drove in two runs. Jacob McElroy went 2-for-2 with a double and a run.

Cole Austin got the win, allowing four hits and no runs with five strikeouts in four innings.

White Plains’ Braxxon Borrelli had a double and two RBIs.

Against Fort Payne, Mohon had a double, a run and two RBIs, and Cole Austin went 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Brodie Homesley pitched a complete game, allowing three hits and no earned runs with six strikeouts in seven innings.
