Eastaboga, AL – This past Saturday, the rolling hills of Calhoun County were alive with the spirit of compassion and community as participants gathered for the Tackle the Hills Challenge Walk for Autism Awareness. Hosted by Rainbow Omega, a beacon of hope for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and graced by the presence of former NFL quarterback turned philanthropist, Tim Tebow, the event was a celebration of unity and purpose.
Tim Tebow, serving as the official starter for the walk, brought his trademark warmth and generosity to the occasion. Amidst cheers and excitement, participants embarked on their journey alongside individuals served by Rainbow Omega, forming bonds of camaraderie and solidarity. With Mr. Tebow walking amongst them, the event took on an extra layer of significance, inspiring all present to walk with purpose and passion.
Rainbow Omega, founded in 1991 by Stentson and Dianne Carpenter, stands as a testament to the power of love and vision. What began as a dream to provide a sheltered community for adults with developmental disabilities has blossomed into a thriving organization, serving 88 individuals with an operational budget exceeding $10 million. Guided by a mission to glorify God through compassionate care and a vision of fostering independence and joy-filled lives, Rainbow Omega embodies the values of respect, dignity, and stewardship.
The partnership between Rainbow Omega and the Tim Tebow Foundation exemplifies the transformative impact of collaboration in service of a greater cause. Since its establishment in 2010, the Tim Tebow Foundation has brought faith, hope, and love to countless individuals worldwide, embodying a commitment to illuminating darkness and spreading the message of God’s unconditional love.
Tim Hodge, Chief Executive Officer of Rainbow Omega, expressed gratitude for Mr. Tebow’s involvement, highlighting the profound connection between the foundation’s mission and the work of Rainbow Omega. “The way he shared himself with the individuals the last few days is just amazing,” Mr. Hodge remarked. “He left a lasting impression, and this weekend has been a testament to the power of compassion and inclusion. We can’t produce the kind of memories that this weekend created for our residents. It will be a lifetime memory that helps add to their quality of life.”
Daley Grace Alford, Miss East Alabama Teen Volunteer, was a walker in this event and radiated with excitement as she prepared to meet Tim Tebow once again, a pivotal figure whose inspiration had propelled her into action. In 2023 she met him when he spoke at Samford University. That encounter had sparked fire within her to create her own impactful event by hosting a “Night to Shine”, a unique way to celebrate individuals with special needs founded by The Tim Tebow Foundation in 2014. Her endeavor came to fruition in 2024 for special needs individuals in Calhoun County with the help of a $6,000 grant she had secured. She is already planning a 2025 “Night to Shine”! As she stood before Mr. Tebow once more, she couldn’t help but express her gratitude for his unwavering support and the profound influence he had on her journey. With heartfelt appreciation, she extended a special thank you to him, eager to share the realization of her aspirations inspired by his presence. She also said how proud she was to walk in the amazing Tackle the Hills Challenge Walk for Autism Awareness.
As participants reflect on the memories made and the bonds forged during the Tackle the Hills Challenge Walk, they carry with them a sense of purpose and unity. Through their collective efforts, they have not only raised awareness for autism but also exemplified the transformative power of love, faith, and compassion in action. In the hills of Calhoun County, a brighter future shines for all, thanks to the unwavering dedication of Rainbow Omega, the generosity of the Tim Tebow Foundation, and the spirit of community that unites us all.
