Talladega Police Investigating Homicide of Recent High School Graduate

18-Year-Old Graduate Found Shot Dead; Investigators Seeking Answers

TALLADEGA, AL — The Talladega Police Department is investigating the homicide of 18-year-old Jy’Kavien Wright of Talladega following a fatal shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of May 31.

According to police, officers responded at approximately 2:24 a.m. to a residence in the 600 block of McAlpine Street after receiving a report of a gunshot victim.

When officers arrived, they located Wright lying on a sidewalk suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities noted that Wright had recently graduated from Talladega High School, receiving his diploma just two weeks before his death.

The Talladega Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting and is seeking assistance from the public.
