Anniston, AL – On Friday, July 21st the Calhoun County Beautification Board, (CCBB) held their annual awards luncheon at the Anniston County Club. The luncheon was to celebrate ten residential, commercial, or civic winners that have taken the time to try to make Calhoun County a more beautiful place to live and work in. The awards were presented by commission district.
Dr. David West, CCBB Advisor and Calhoun County Extension Office Coordinator, gave the welcome and Tim Taylor a board member for district two gave the invocation. Commission Chairman Fred Wilson, Commissioner Danny Shears, Commissioner Terry Howell, Tax Commissioner Barry Robertson, and Calhoun County Extension Representative, Carmelita Davis were recognized for being at the event. Each attendee was then presented with a seated lunch and encouraged to talk and get to know others in the community they may be seated with. Belinda York, Board President, and Sarah Pritchett, Board member from District two presented each award.

Dr. David West presented closing remarks. Commissioner Danny Shears spoke and stated how much he appreciated the effort and the work that everyone in the room puts into improving Calhoun County. He noted that often people don’t take pride in their home and the work recognized today inspires others. Commissioner Terry Howell that often city and county officials deal with the ugly side of abatements and code enforcement so it is a wonderful moment to celebrate the beauty of the County. Commission Chairman Fred Wilson stated the was very happy to see his neighbor, Mrs. Young, win. He also wanted to recognize Mrs. Dunn, Pappy Dunn’s wife for being in attendance.
