The Cardinal Gala Celebrates Community and Music at Gadsden State Community College

Gadsden State's Second Annual Cardinal Gala a huge success

GADSDEN, AL – The Cardinal Gala, a signature event hosted by the Gadsden State Community College Cardinal Foundation, took place on Thursday, October 10th, at the Venue at Coosa Landing. The evening was a vibrant celebration filled with music, fellowship, and a strong sense of community spirit.

The Venue was adorned in Gadsden State’s signature colors of red, black, and silver, creating a festive atmosphere that perfectly complemented the event. Attendees were treated to a heartfelt performance by Worth the Wait, a talented mother-daughter trio from Etowah County who now call Cherokee County home. The trio, known for their captivating harmonies and storytelling, performed a range of classic songs while guests enjoyed a delicious dinner catered by Nette’s Kitchen of Piedmont. Tara, the mother of the trio and a Gadsden State alum, shared her journey, highlighting the importance of education in her family’s life.

After dinner, the energy shifted as Swoop the Band took the stage, energizing the crowd with hits from the ‘80s and ‘90s. The band members, all former Gadsden State students, brought a sense of nostalgia and joy, encouraging guests to dance and reminisce about their college days.

While some guests danced, others were drawn to the silent auction, which featured an impressive array of items, including custom fire pits adorned with Alabama and Auburn designs, provided by the Ayers Campus. The competitive bidding showcased the community’s enthusiasm and support for the college.

Hillary Folsom, director of advancement and alumni relations, expressed her gratitude for the community’s involvement, stating, “We measure success in many ways. I believe the fellowship, goodwill, and community involvement created by this event is immeasurable. From Mayor Craig Ford and the City of Gadsden to each one of our business, industry, and individual sponsors, we created an event worthy of repeating.”

As the evening drew to a close, lucky bidders celebrated their wins while others remained on the dance floor for one last song. Student volunteers diligently cleared tables and decorations, wrapping up a successful night.

Cardinal Foundation president Tommie Goggans echoed the sentiments of appreciation, remarking, “There really is no adequate way to express our thanks to everyone involved. We are blessed with an outstanding team of talented individuals and generous members of our Cardinal Foundation Board of Directors. It is our joy to have the opportunity to be a part of the work done by Gadsden State Community College to change the lives of people in this region.”
