Alexandria sweeps

JACKSONVILLE — Alexandria justified its recently installed No. 1 seed into the Calhoun County Volleyball Tournament, remained undefeated against in-county competition and improved to 5-0 on coach Whitney Welch’s maternity leave with a pair of 2-0 sweeps over Ranburne and Pleasant Valley.

In the Pleasant Valley match, Alexandria’s Kailey Dickerson and Eryn Spradley scored seven kills apiece, while Brie Troup (four) and Spradley combined for seven blocks. PV beat Ranburne 3-0 in the other match.

Glencoe gets area win

HOKES BLUFF — Glencoe picked up its first area win of the season and evened its area record to 1-1 with a tight 3-1 victory over Hokes Bluff. Hailey Hanners led the Lady Jackets (11-9) with 19 kills and 16 assists. Emma Croy had 10 kills, Madalyn Amberson had five kills and 20 assists, and Kinslee Gray had 22 digs.

Ohatchee sweeps Piedmont

OHATCHEE — Jorda Crook had 20 kills, Alanah Fitch had seven kills and 12 assists and Hannah Fitch had 20 assists as Ohatchee swept Piedmont to reach the 20-win plateau for the season.
