Tragedy Strikes as Anniston Man Loses Life in Sunday’s Pedestrian Collision

Cleburne County, AL – On Sunday, October 15, a single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian has resulted in the untimely loss of an Anniston resident. Kenneth W. Cochran, a 66-year-old man.

The incident happened around 2:20 p.m. on Sunday when Mr. Cochran was struck by a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Angelo M. Matthews, a 39-year-old hailing from Memphis, Tennessee.

The impact proved to be devastating, as Mr. Cochran sustained critical injuries in the collision. Although immediate medical attention was administered, he succumbed to the injuries. His tragic passing was confirmed while he was being transported to a nearby medical facility.

The crash site was located on Interstate 20, situated near the 207-mile marker, which is approximately three miles east of Heflin, within Cleburne County.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division are investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident. At this point, no further details or information have been made available regarding the incident.
