Tragic Collision Claims Life of Talladega Woman in Two-Vehicle Crash

Fatal Crash

Talladega, AL – In a incident that unfolded around 12:10 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, a two-vehicle crash has left the Talladega community in mourning. Dixie S. Roberts, a 63-year-old woman, lost her life in the collision that occurred on Alabama 34 near the 5-mile marker, approximately five miles north of Talladega in Talladega County.

The fatal crash involved a 2004 Toyota Avalon driven by Roberts and a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe operated by Jennifer S. Milstead, a 71-year-old resident of Talladega. According to reports, Roberts’ Toyota Avalon was struck by Milstead’s Hyundai Santa Fe, resulting in fatal injuries for Roberts. Tragically, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Jennifer S. Milstead and a passenger in the Hyundai, Sonja H. Jenkins, 64, of Talladega, both sustained injuries in the collision. They were promptly transported to RMC Hospital in Anniston for necessary medical treatment. Additionally, Kathleen C. Studdard, 82, of Talladega, who was a passenger in the Toyota Avalon, suffered injuries and was transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for medical attention.

The precise details surrounding the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division. The crash site, located near the 5-mile marker on Alabama 34.
