Anniston, AL – The Anniston Police Department announced that two people have been arrested in connection with the August 18, 2021, murder of Maurice M. McCauley, 33, of Anniston. At the time of the incident Mr. McCauley was spending time with family and friends when the shooting began. Anniston Police investigators and investigators from the Calhoun County Major Crimes Unit were able to identify Angelo Terry Smith, 26, of Anniston, and Cederick Lamon Woolverton, 21, of Anniston as suspects of the murder. On April 10, 2023, Woolverton was taken into custody and transported to the Calhoun County Jail without incident. Smith was already in the Calhoun County Jail since March 1, 2023, on unrelated charges. Smith has now also been charged with the murder.
