Anniston, AL – On Friday, November 3, 2023, at approximately 4:00 pm Anniston Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Leighton and East 22nd Street in response to possible gunshots. Upon arrival officers were able to locate two male juveniles that were suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers immediately started rendering aid to the victims and requested assistance from the Anniston Fire Department and paramedics.
Due to their ages neither victim will be identified. The first victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and then released. The second victim was transported to Birmingham and is currently listed in critical but stable condition and is expected to have more medical procedures done.
During the course of the investigation Anniston Investigators were able to learn that an unidentified person of interest produced a weapon and fired at the juveniles.
On Monday, November 6, 2023, at approximately 6:00 pm Anniston Police Officers were again dispatched to the same area regarding reports of another possible shooting. Upon arrival officers learned that no one had been struck by the gunfire but there was evidence that someone had fired a weapon in the area. Investigators are looking into any possibility that the two incidents may be related.
