U.S. Senator Katie Britt Votes to End CCP Control of TikTok, Invest in American Defense Capacity, Defend Israel

Washington D.C. – Senator Katie Britt of Alabama has issued a statement regarding her vote in favor of H.R. 815, known as the National Security Supplemental Bill. Despite acknowledging the legislation’s imperfections, Senator Britt emphasized its critical role in bolstering American deterrence capabilities and advancing peace through strength, an agenda inherited by President Biden.

The bill encompasses several significant measures, including efforts to combat the fentanyl crisis and restrict Iran’s financing of terrorism. Senator Britt underscored the urgency of standing with Israel in the face of ongoing threats, particularly from Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists. She highlighted the rise of antisemitism and pro-terrorist sentiments and stressed the importance of supporting Israel and Jewish communities, especially during the Passover season.

Additionally, Senator Britt emphasized provisions aimed at addressing national security concerns related to technology, such as the forced sale of TikTok to remove it from Chinese Communist Party control. She warned of the dangers posed by foreign influence, particularly from China, in shaping the minds of the younger generation.

Furthermore, the legislation includes strategic investments to modernize the U.S. defense industrial base and domestic manufacturing capacity, with substantial funding directed towards Alabama. This investment aims to enhance the state’s contributions to national defense efforts, ensuring the safety and security of American servicemembers.

The bill, composed of four major components merged into H.R. 815, allocates approximately $378 million in supplemental funding to Alabama for expanding missile production capacity and facilities. Additionally, significant funding will be directed to Troy, Anniston, and Huntsville for replenishing U.S. missile, munition, and heavy equipment stockpiles.

Senator Britt also highlighted her sponsorship of three major pieces of legislation included in the bill: the FEND Off Fentanyl Act, the SHIP Act, and the REPO Act. These measures aim to address critical issues such as combating the flow of fentanyl into the United States, sanctioning illicit purchases of Iranian oil, and assisting in Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts following Russia’s invasion.

The passage of this legislation follows Senator Britt’s recent support for improved border security and interior immigration enforcement funding, reflecting her commitment to addressing a range of national security challenges.
