Anniston, AL – In response to the freezing temperatures forecasted for the week, United Way of East Central Alabama (UWECA), in collaboration with the City of Anniston, His Hands and Feet Ministries, and MeMe’s Heart, will reopen its public warming station to provide a safe haven for those in need.
The warming station will operate at Martha’s Hope, formerly known as the Bridge at Anniston First United Methodist Church, located at 1431 Gurnee Avenue, Anniston, AL 36201. The station will open on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 6:00 PM CT, and remain available until Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 8:00 AM CT.
To ensure safety and coordination, admission to the station will close nightly at 9:00 PM CT, with the possibility of extended operations depending on weather conditions.
In addition to a warm place to stay, the warming station aims to provide meals for its visitors. UWECA is actively seeking food donations to support this effort. Those interested in contributing can email [email protected] for more information.
Residents are encouraged to share this resource with anyone who may need assistance. For general inquiries or support, individuals can dial 2-1-1 or visit the City of Anniston’s website at www.annistonal.gov/warming-station.
