Earlier tonight JSU and Jacksonville Police Department were dispatched to the Campus Inn Apartments for a reported shooting. The incident was confirmed by Chief Michael Barton of the JSU Police Department. He has advised that this is an isolated incident and this is not a current active shooter situation. Official Release
At approximately 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening, university police received reports of an altercation that occurred between two non-students at Campus Inn Apartments. Officers arrived on the scene within a minute. No one was on scene when officers arrived. One individual is being treated at a local hospital with what is believed to be a non-life-threatening, self-inflicted gunshot wound. An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should contact campus police. While it is not believed that the situation poses an immediate threat to the campus community, university police encourage individuals to remain vigilant and always report any suspicious activity to 256-782-5050.
