Heflin, AL – The USDA Forest Service celebrated the dedication and contributions of its partners, volunteers, and campground hosts during the “Partnership and Volunteer Appreciation Day” event held on August 7, 2024, at the Shoal Creek Ranger District Office in the Talladega National Forest. The event served as an opportunity to recognize and honor the invaluable support these individuals and organizations provide in managing the Talladega and Shoal Creek Districts.
The day began with a Meet & Greet session at 9 a.m., where attendees enjoyed light refreshments and connected with fellow volunteers and Forest Service staff. The official ceremony commenced at 10 a.m. with a warm welcome from the Forest Service, followed by the introduction of the numerous partners, volunteers, and campground hosts who have contributed to the upkeep and improvement of the national forest.
One of the event’s highlights was the award presentation, where several individuals and groups were recognized for their exceptional service. These awards acknowledged the diverse talents and skills volunteers bring to the table, from trail maintenance and conservation efforts to educational programs and campground management.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks at 11 a.m., followed by a group photo session. The event was well-attended, and the Forest Service expressed deep gratitude for the ongoing support and collaboration that help preserve and enhance the natural beauty of the Talladega National Forest.
