For many, we believe its hard to take a bad picture of our pets. We love them and know how special they are however, most pet owners will acknowledge that it is at times difficult to get a good picture. That is the challenge that Wags to Riches Photography has set out to defeat that challenge and ensure everyone has a good picture for themselves.

This group of volunteer photographers specialize in shelter animal photography. Their mission is to increase positive outcomes for shelter animals by providing free photography services to shelter and rescue organizations.

The Jacksonville Journal had the opportunity to talk to Heather Phillips and Briana Frias of Wags to Riches Photography. They offer their services to any non-profit organization with a relationship to animal care and well-being. Wags to Riches Photography was started by Emily Covington in February of 2018 and have grown to currently have six volunteer photographers. A few of the organizations that they have supported and taken photo’s for are; Cheaha Regional Humane Society, Etowah County Animal Shelter, League For Animal Welfare, Gadsden Humane Society Pet Rescue and Adoption Center, and Rockin’ “P” Rescue, Inc. The shelters and recuses they currently service are in Tuscaloosa, Calhoun, and Etowah counties where they photograph for over nine animal welfare organizations.  Wags to Riches has also contacted many other shelter’s and rescue’s to offer their services. If you know of any non-profit animal organizations looking for this type of service, they can contact the site to receive a welcome packet. Adopted dog - Photo by Wags to Riches

There has been such a demand that Wags to Riches Photography is currently looking to expand to cover the entire state of Alabama  but to do this more volunteers will be needed. They is always looking for more volunteer photographers, editors, dog handlers, and other administrative opportunities so please stop by or check out their website if you would like to help. Even if you don’t have photography expertise, they are always in need of people that love animals and are willing to help pose them and help keep them calm with cuddles and positive reinforcement.

Volunteers are such a help to the cause!

To learn more about this organization or how to volunteer please visit their website or download a volunteer form.   Always feel free to share there site, photos, stories about them, and facebook page.  The facebook page will always have the most current photographs.

Wags to Riches never charges non-profits for their services and only asks that they be credited for photos to help others learn about them. Also please don’t forget to take a peak at the portfolios to see some amazing shelter and rescue animals that are available. Remember the Wags to Riches motto “Seen Equals Saved”
