June 25–26 event provides hands-on instruction for safer swimming experiences
ANNISTON, AL – Akilli’s House is offering a free, two-day water safety training designed specifically for families in the Autism community. The training will be held June 25–26, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Anniston Aquatic & Fitness Center, located at 130 Summerall Gate Road.
This community-focused event is tailored to help children with Autism become more confident and comfortable in the water while providing parents with the tools and techniques necessary to reinforce water safety at home and during recreational swimming.
The training will include:
-
Guided sessions on how to teach children vital water safety skills
-
Practice exercises for reaching the pool edge and exiting safely
-
Supported swim time with assistance from trained instructors and parent participation
The program is free to attend and open to the public—no membership at the facility is required. Families can register either in person or online through June 26 at https://tinyurl.com/233vx2d7.
By combining education with supervised practice, the event aims to reduce drowning risks and increase positive water experiences for children with Autism. The training is part of Akilli’s House’s broader mission to provide resources that empower families and promote inclusive community engagement.
