Weaver, AL – Weaver held their regularly scheduled works sessions and City Council Meeting on March 26th, 2024.

  • Introduction of Special Guests
    • Jon Garlick running for Probate Judge.He would like to request votes on April 16th. He detailed his educational and professional background and why he felt he was qualified for the position of Probate Judge.

  • Minutes from March 12th meeting – Unanimously Approved
  • Public Works – Director Ingram
    • Signs will be placed in the parks.
    • Also the spray park will be tested in anticipation for opening.
  • Chief Bush – None
  • Chief Bunn
    • Code Enforcement mentioned the planning commission regarding to rezoning that is on the agenda for this meeting.
    • The demolition project has a contract waiting for signature that will be presented to the Mayor soon.

  • Council member Bowles
    • Recognized the Weaver Volunteer Fire Department for their work.
  • Councilmember Summerlin
    • Requests for restriping the City Hall parking lot. *Also noted by Chief Bunn that there is no handicap access in front of the police department.
  • Old Business – None
  • New Business
    • Proclamation #2024-01 Proclaiming March 2024 as American Red Cross Month.
    • Ordinance #2024-03 Rezoning 250 Angel Lake Road from B-2 to R-1. – Unanimously Approved
  • Mayors Report
    • The bathrooms will be closed in the park for a week or two due to vandalism and required repairs. The vandalism was graffiti, flooring damage to the lockers, and foreign objects being placed in the commodes.
    • Bids were run for repaving.
  • Public Comments
    • Greg Pierce asked for clarification on paving. He was told it was the 17 roads in Weaver.
    • The fire department was thanked for the work putting out the brush fire.
    • An update was asked for on Buckhorn changes and was informed no formal changes was submitted.
