Weaver, AL – The Weaver City Council convened for its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Mayor Jeff Clendenning and Councilmember Burns were absent. Present at the meeting were Councilmembers McRae, Bowles, Hamby, and Prestley, along with department heads Director Ingram, Mrs. Whetstone, Police Chief Bush, and Fire Chief/Code Enforcement Officer Bunn.
During the preceding work session, Public Works Director Ingram shared details about a piece of equipment he and Chief Bunn recently reviewed. The proposed equipment, costing approximately $12,000, can be attached to the city’s current machinery and would assist with clearing right-of-ways. The tool has the capability to clear up to 13 feet in height and 8 feet to the sides, which Ingram noted could be a low-cost solution to improve city maintenance operations. He also thanked Chief Bunn for assisting with traffic control last week due to limited staffing.
Chief Bush and Chief Bunn both reported no new updates during the department head segment. Mrs. Whetstone stated that third-quarter financial reports had been submitted without issue. There were no additional reports from City Council members.
The regular session began with the call to order, invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, roll call, and the adoption of the agenda and minutes from the July 8, 2025, meeting. In old business, the council discussed appointments to the Civil Service Board. A motion was approved allowing the mayor to submit a letter to the legislative delegation with names of interested individuals for board consideration.
There was no new business presented, and with the mayor absent due to a family illness, no report was given from his office. Councilmembers requested that he be kept in thoughts and prayers during this time. No public comments were offered, and the meeting was adjourned. All votes were unanimous.
