Work Session

• Bids have been received for the restroom project. There were three bidders and the bids are $348,000, $271,000, and $269,000. None of these bids include the septic system or pole for electrical. These prices are more than double the initial budget. More research will be done on options such as renovating the current restrooms or even modular restrooms. The general consensus was that the current bids are too high to warrant the expense. 
• The splashpad materials have arrived and construction will begin next week. Alabama Power has donated $500 and Sparklight also donated $500. This $1,000 will go toward landscaping for the splashpad. 
• The Christmas parade is coming up on 12/5/21. Bands  have been confirmed as well as Mrs. Alabama and Santa Clause. The Grand Marshal will be the principal of Weaver High School. The Weaver band will perform after the parade in the park. Hot Chocolate and cookies will also be given out in the park. 
• The city will host a lunch on Wednesday for the city workers at noon. 
• Chief Bunn had no report. 
• Chief Bush provided October stats. He also noted that a civilian brought Omaha Steaks for all the officers. Many of the steaks will be donated to an injured officer who is currently not able to work. 
• Joey Conger had no report.
• Chastity Whetstone had no report. 
• Councilmember McRae wanted to thank Joey Conger for helping him pick up supplies that were delivered from Keep Alabama Beautiful. Also the litter signs will be picked up on Wednesday the 24th. 
• Councilmember Bowles had no report.

    • Bids accepted, but no action will be taken at this time due to the cost.
