Weaver, AL – The Weaver Police Department has released information regarding the arrest of a University of Alabama walk-on football player, Antonio Chauncey Ross, 19, of Weaver, AL. The initial complaint was reported to the Anniston Police Department who conducted a large portion of the investigation. Once it was determine that the accusations originated in the city of Weaver, Anniston forwarded all information to Weaver Investigations. Below is a full copy of the press release issued by the Weaver Police Department.
“A case involving Antonio Ross was concluded by the Weaver Police Department. This case was originally reported to and investigated by Anniston Police Department who did an outstanding job gathering information and conducting interviews before it was discovered the alleged crime took place in the jurisdiction of Weaver. This investigation involved a juvenile female victim and protocols were followed which allowed the juvenile to be interviewed at the Calhoun County Children’s Advocacy Center. This case highlights the need for these centers and funding for child advocacy workers who are specifically trained to interview children in a safe and comfortable space. The investigation led to a decision to forward the case to a Calhoun County Grand Jury, which took place during the week of August 28th, 2023. The grand jury presentation resulted in an indictment being issued for Sodomy 2nd degree against Antonio Chauncey Ross. Mr. Ross was arrested at his home without incident by Weaver police and deputies from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office during the morning of September 11th, 2023.

Ross was processed into the Calhoun County Jail where a bail bond of $50,000 was issued for one charge of 2nd Degree Sodomy. He was able to bond out of jail the same day. According to reports Ross has been removed from the Alabama football roster.
